Systems design is a facet of design thinking, and becomes a powerful tool to find compelling solutions for diverse business types and complex issues.
The design thinking process is used to analyze how footwear designers work and uncover the problems that exist in a typical desk workplace scenario. Our challenge was to match the furniture to the workflow process, to allow greater productivity.
Analyzing the workflow process for shoe designers, we reviewed and studied how they move product, how they store it, and how they work with it. “Chunking” the premise of how you collect and cluster, was integral to the solution. We created a new workstation typology that could accommodate different work styles by establishing a series of new furniture modules that increase productivity.
