Mark joined the Ideation team with over four decades, of experience. As the former founder and President of Johnson Design Group Inc. (JDG), Mark has been involved in retail planning and design dealing with an expansive array of retail projects including unique specialty stores, department stores, specialty discount retailers and regional malls. Clients have praised Mark’s hands-on approach to planning, merchandising, design and project management.

Mark has been involved in almost every aspect of the world of retail, from merchandising displays through construction drawings. Marks vast experiences and entrepreneurial spirit led to the establishment of Johnson Design Group in 1995, and let it until his transition to Ideation studio in 2019. The firm had been recognized for design excellence by NASFM, RDI and VM+SD.

As an industry thought leader, Mark is recognized for his extensive expertise and knowledge, he has made giving back a high priority, whether it is mentoring or speaking at educational events. Mark was an inaugural professional industry organization student chapter member and has maintained a meaningful involvement in the Retail Design Institution organization for four decades.

Outside the office Mark is an avid sailor, antique car restoration, traveler and craftsman.
